چکیده
Kuakata beach, known as Daughter of Sea in Bangladesh, has drawn a growing number tourists from all over the world, leading to higher use single plastic products. This study was first attempt describe occurrence, spatial distribution, and ecological risk microplastics (MPs) beach sediments. A total 24 surface sediment samples were collected intertidal zone MPs extracted using density separation method stereomicroscope. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy used for qualitative quantitative identification. The results revealed that average 232 ± 52 items kg –1 dry weight, which much than many other sandy beaches throughout world. Analyses variance showed significant ( p < 0.01) difference among mean abundance sampling points. Fibers dominated every point with an 123 27 item . Most observed colored (60%), rest transparent (40%). It found size range 1–5 mm constituted half (55%) covering value 127 34 Three polymer types identified through FTIR analysis followed decreasing order polyethylene terephthalate > polypropylene. Correlation positive relationship between finer grain = 0.055; r 0.7), indicating size-controlled MPs. pollution load index assessed estimate belonged category I index. investigation provided preliminary information on marine ecosystem policymakers can take appropriate management approaches.

Radiological risk analysis of sediment from Kutubdia island, Bangladesh due to natural and anthropogenic radionuclides
To assess the environmental radioactivity levels and hence to determine the population exposure in Kutubdia Island, Bangladesh the sediment samples were analyzed by using gamma ray spectrometry. In those sediment samples the average activity concentration of natural radionuclides 238U, 232Th and 40K were found 15.39±1.67, 38.35±0.76 and 475.51±21.15 Bq/kg respectively. ...

Human Health Risk Assessment of Nitrate and Trace Metals Via Groundwater in Central Bangladesh
Groundwater plays a pivotal role as the largest potable water sources in Bangladesh. As agriculture is widely practiced in Bangladesh, potential nitrate (NO3¯) pollution may occur. Besides, excess amount of arsenic (As) has already been found in groundwater in many parts of Bangladesh including the present study area. Thus, this study was conducted to assess the NO3¯ status along with some trac...
